Mushy Pea Gravy

OK, just bare with me on this, I know it sounds disgusting, I know not everyone likes mushy peas, BUT this is a Free gravy & actually it tastes bloody good! I have served this to people who hate mushy peas with a fierce passion & they have liked it, so just give it a go! It’s super easy & super cheap.

You can make this to the thickness you like, so if you prefer standing your cutlery in gravy this will be right up your street.

In a blender add in 1 tin of mushy peas, 1 tbsp of tomato puree, 3-4 Oxo cubes of your choice ( I like 2 chicken & 2 lamb for meatiness) throw in some dried garlic, rosemary, thyme, sage…. (whatever herbs suit your roast meat) add a little bit of water & whizz it all up until it’s smooth.

At this point it won’t look particularly appetising, but add in a few drops of Sarsons gravy browning (you can find it in supermarkets by the gravies, stocks & vinegars) & it will be more aesthetically pleasing . Once it’s all blended just add water until you get the thickness you want & heat up in a saucepan.

Let me know what you think!
